Dundee’s Local Employability Partnership, Discover Work coordinated an event that supported the Social Care Careers Week on Tuesday 6th December.

The event featured speakers from NHS Tayside, Dundee City Council’s Adult Employability Service (AES), Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership (DHSCP) and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

The event was aimed at employability practitioners to highlight the challenges and opportunities available in Dundee within this growth sector providing information on support that is available for potential candidates to encourage people to move into this sector.

Discover Work Partnership set the context for the day by presenting labour market information and analysis for the Tayside region’s health & social care industry. The successful NHS Healthcare Academy focussed on their upcoming intake for January 2023, giving an opportunity for up to 15 individuals to gain employability support, accredited training and practical experience in health and social care settings. SSSC gave an overview of their soon to be launched toolkit, ‘Ten Steps’, created in collaboration with practitioners and other organisations, which aims to start the conversation about Care as an attractive and rewarding career. DHSCP discussed their recruitment process and current vacancies, and Dundee City Council’s Adult Employability Service showcased their ‘Discover Care’ course planned for January 2023.
